La variation de la position du diaphragme permet de "mettre au point" sur l'ensemble du champ image
comme l'indique Daguerre, démontrant ainsi qu'il a bien fourni
ce diaphragme à iris à Niépce, dont il se
servait pour effectuer les variations d'éclairage de ses
tableaux à l'ambigu comique et au diorama.
